Research project Mobility of Words and Places of Knowledge: Learned Communities in Early Nineteenth-Century Finland
In our research project we explore the world of books in the cities of Turku, Porvoo and Viborg by focusing on the circulation and availability of printed works in three different localities. By examining various practices around the books we are interested in those ways printed works and reading created learned communities during the early nineteenth century.
We are five researchers active at the University of Turku. Our expertice covers 18th and 19th century studies, European book and press history as well as nineteenth century cultural and intellectual history.
